Mozart, Shostakovich and Milhaud anchor a double-bill from an imaginative young harpist and the award-winning Quatuor Zaïde.
‘The power of a musician, who plays honestly and purely, without compromises, but with a large degree of risk-taking, is what inspires me in music.’ That’s the artistic philosophy of harpist Remy van Kesteren; but it’d go for the young French Quatuor Zaïde too.
And this ECHO Rising Stars concert gives these artists ample scope to prove it, with van Kesteren pairing classics of French and South American harp music with a new commission from Oene van Geel, while Quatuor Zaïde sets Francesca Verunelli's new quartet alongside two touchstones of the quartet repertoire: Mozart’s joyous G major Quartet and Shostakovich’s shattering Seventh.
