Here’s a look ahead at events for this month:
HARP FESTIVALS, WORKSHOPS AND COURSES
The Italian Harp Association, in collaboration with the Omraam Foundation ETS and Stella Mattutina Edizioni Publishing House, announces the second edition of the International Harp Composition Competition “Daniele Garella”.
The competition is open to composers of any nationality, with no age limit. Entrants must submit an original solo work for pedal harp, unpublished and never performed, lasting between 5 and 7 minutes, inspired by Italy and by the music of Daniele Garella, with a title in Italian.
Entries must be received no later than 20 September 2026 at [email protected]. Membership of the Italian Harp Association for 2026 is required (ordinary membership fee €25). The winner will be announced between 15 and 20 October 2026.The winner will receive a cash prize of €1,000.

- 23rd September at 7.30pm: St Pancras Clocktower, joint album launch of Oliver Wass and Lise Vandersmissen. Lise’s album ‘Our Roots’ consists of all Belgian music, including two ‘forgotten’ compositions by Kufferath and Fontyn. She’ll play on a French Gothic Erard and modern harp. - Warwick Beginner Harp Day on September 5th and October 10th
A wonderful day for adult harp beginners - introducing the instrument, with a talk on its history, a recital from Janet and hands-on harping! Let Janet surprise and delight you as to how easy it is to make beautiful music! From 11am to 4pm, with a hearty Irish themed lunch provided (Home-made brown soda bread, smoked salmon, soup or salad and apple pie. All diets catered for.) - AUTUMN HARP SCHOOLS:

- Warwick Harp Weekends
2-day weekend courses for Adult Players (1 year +) at the Harp Studio, St.Nicholas Park with a ‘Friday Extra Time’ option for one-to-one tuition from 4pm Friday evening. A top feature of the course is Janet’s wild and wonderful ‘Trad Irish Night’ on the Saturday evening. This involves dinner (may be a stew, buffet or BBQ always with veggie options) finishing with a vibrant traditional Irish session with local Irish musicians. Guaranteed to give effective and motivating group training in a social and progressive atmosphere. With a maximum of 8 players on each course, early booking is advised!
